Preparing Your Body for Pregnancy

Many of the families who follow Choose Joy Nursing are already in the beautiful season of caring for babies. But every now and then, someone finds our page while dreaming about the babies they hope to welcome one day.

If that’s you - we’re so glad you’re here. Truly. We’re praying for you and for the children you may hold in your arms one day.

One of the most important things to remember is that preparing for pregnancy can start long before you officially begin “trying.” Your body is already carrying the eggs that may one day become your children. Because of that, nourishing and caring for your body now can be a meaningful part of preparing for the future.

Preconception care isn’t about perfection - it’s about being intentional with the body God gave you and creating an environment where new life can flourish.

Here are some of the practices Lauren, the owner of Choose Joy Nursing, focused on during her preconception season.

What to Do Preconception

Prayer Over Health and Fertility

  • Lauren began by praying regularly for both her own health and her husband’s health. Fertility is a journey that involves both partners, and inviting God into that process brought peace and perspective.

Praying for Future Generations

  • She also prayed not just for a baby, but for the generations that would come after. This can be a powerful and hopeful practice during the waiting season.

A Balance, Colorful Diet

  • Lauren focused on eating whole foods and creating colorful plates full of nutrients - fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and quality protein. A nutrient-dense diet supports hormone health and overall wellness.

Acupuncture

  • Many women explore acupuncture as a way to support hormone balance, circulation, and stress reduction during preconception.

Progessence Plus Essential Oil

  • Lauren incorporated Progessence Plus essential oil morning and night as part of her hormone-support routine.

Full-Fat Raw Milk

  • She chose to drink full-fat raw milk, prioritizing nutrient-dense foods that support overall health and fertility.

Prenatal + Egg Support Supplements

  • Lauren began taking a high-quality prenatal vitamin and egg-support supplement before trying to conceive. If you’re interested, you can receive 20% off your first order with code: CHOOSEJOY.

Never Skipping Breakfast

  • Starting the day with a nourishing breakfast helped support blood sugar balance, energy levels, and hormone health.

Juice Plus+

  • Lauren also added Juice Plus+ to help bridge potential nutritional gaps and increase her daily fruit and vegetable intake.

Regular Chiropractic Adjustments

  • Routine visits to the chiropractor helped support alignment, nervous system function, and overall wellness.

Movement Based On How She Felt

  • Rather than following an intense workout schedule, Lauren focused on moving her body in ways that felt supportive - walking, stretching, and gentle exercise.

Hydration and Mineralized Water

  • Drinking purified water with added minerals (and plenty of it!) was another daily habit that supported her body’s overall function.

Creating a Low-Toxin Lifestyle

  • Lauren worked toward reducing toxins in her home environment by using cleaner products, filtering air, and being mindful about what she brought into her home.

Using an Air Purifier

  • Improving indoor air quality with an air purifier can be another small but meaningful step toward creating a healthier environment.

A Gentle Reminder

Preparing your body for pregnancy isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about small, consistent choices that honor your health and future family.

If you’re in a preconception season right now, we want you to know you’re not alone. Whether you are months away from trying, actively planning, or simply dreaming about the future, this time matters.

Take care of yourself now. Nourish your body. Move gently. Pray boldly.

And know that here at Choose Joy Nursing, we are cheering you on and praying for you and your future babies.

Your story is already unfolding - and we’re so grateful you’re here!
