Daily Self-Care Checklist for New Moms

In the newborn days, everything can feel like a blur. Your world has shifted, your body is healing, and your heart is learning a whole new kind of love.

In the middle of caring for your baby, don’t forget - you matter too.

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing a few small things each day to help support you in this season.

Move Your Body

This doesn’t have to be a workout. Step outside, stretch, take a short walk, or simply stand in the sunshine for a few minutes. Gentle movement can help both your body and your mind.

Take Deep Breaths

Pause for a moment. Inhale slowly, exhale fully. Even a few deep breaths can calm your nervous system and bring a sense of peace in the middle of a busy or overwhelming day. Here’s a helpful tool you can use:

Hydrate & Eat

Keep a water bottle nearby. Have your husband or loved one fill it every time it gets low!

Nourish your body with warm, comforting foods. You are healing, recovering, and possibly feeding a baby - your body needs care too.

Tell Someone Your Feelings

You were never meant to carry this season alone. Whether it’s your spouse, a friend, or another mom - share how you’re really doing.

0 - If you are at a 0 and/or having suicidal ideation or thoughts of harming your child, call 911 or have your partner or loved one take you to the hospital immediately. This is not safe, and you need immediate care.

5 or less - You need to call a counselor or psychiatrist and make an appointment immediately before things progress and you are unable to care for your child.

  • Ideally, we recommend setting up postpartum counselor appointments before birth, but it’s absolutely okay to reach out afterward if needed.

6 or more - Glad you’re doing well. Be sure to still check in with yourself often.

If you need support, reach out. You deserve to feel well, whole, and at peace!

Sleep

Rest when you can. We know it’s not always easy, but even small pockets of sleep matter. Your body and mind need restoration.

If you need extra support, we are here for you! We offer:

Remember - you can’t pour from an empty cup. Even the simplest acts of self-care can gently refill you - little by little, day by day.

You are doing an incredible job. And you deserve to be cared for too!
