Tips for the New (and Expecting) Mom of Multiples

Congrats, mama! Life with multiples is such a wild mix of exciting and overwhelming, but you are not alone in it.

With a few tried-and-true tips, from one of the twin mamas on our team, you’ll be finding your rhythm in no time.

From juggling schedules to must-have products that actually make life easier, we’ve got you covered every step of the way.

Get Your babies on the Same Schedule

Getting your babies on the same schedule might feel impossible at first, but it’s a total sanity saver. Once feedings, naps, and bedtime start to line up, your days and nights will feel so much more predictable.

The best way to start is by paying attention to their natural rhythms, then slowly syncing things up. Before you know it, you’ll have both (or all, for our triplet and quadruplet mamas!) on the same routine.

This also frees up windows of time for you - whether that’s catching a nap, taking a shower, or just enjoying a quiet cup of coffee.

It won’t be perfect every day (because babies), but staying consistent really does pay off. In the long run, a shared schedule helps your little ones thrive and gives you the breathing room you deserve!

Keep Track of Feeds and Diapers

When you’ve got multiples, keeping track of feeds and diapers is a must! It makes life so much easier and gives you peace of mind.

One of the best ways to stay on top of it all is by keeping a simple journal (or downloading an app). Jot down who ate when, how long they nursed (or how many ounces they took), and which baby it was.

Same goes for diapers - tracking wet and dirty ones helps you know they’re getting enough. Plus, it’s helpful to have all that info ready for pediatrician visits.

If you’re bottle-feeding, little hacks like bottle bands or labels are total lifesavers to avoid mix-ups. And if your babies are on different formulas (like the twin mama on our team), labeling those clearly is a game-changer too.

These small routines not only keep everything organized but also help you feel confident that your babies are getting exactly what they need!

feeding support

Feeding multiples is all about finding what keeps things efficient and comfortable, and both the Twin Z pillow and My Brest Friend Twin Nursing Pillow come highly recommended!

They lets you feed both babies at the same time while giving your arms and back the support they desperately need during those endless nursing or bottle-feeding sessions. Plus, they help you keep each baby properly positioned, which makes feeding smoother and way less stressful.

If you’ve got triplets, or even quads, don’t worry, there are hacks for that too - like pairing a Twin Z with single My Brest Friend, or doubling up on one of the twin pillows. Whatever combo works, having the right setup really does make feeding multiples so much easier on everyone!

keep your babies in the same room

Keeping your babies together in the same room can actually be such a sweet thing, for them and for you. Twins (and multiples in general) often find comfort just being near each other, and that closeness can really help them feel safe and connected from the start.

A lot of parents worry about one waking the other(s), but you’d be surprised - babies usually learn to sleep right through their sibling’s cries! And having them in the same space makes middle-of-the-night feeds and diaper changes way easier to manage.

It’s a win-win - more security for your babies, more simplicity for you.

use zipper jammies

In the middle of the night, the last thing you want is to be fumbling with a million tiny snaps while your babies are squirming. Zippers make diaper changes so much faster and easier, which means less stress for you and fewer sleep disruptions for them. Everyone gets back to bed quicker, and that’s a win all around.

When you’re juggling more than one baby, little things like this can make a huge difference in keeping your nights simpler and your babies cozy and content.

find a mom of multiples community

Finding a community, whether through Instagram, local Facebook groups, or friends of friends, is so important for new parents of multiples. There’s something so reassuring about connecting with people who get it, who’ve been through the same ups, downs, and everything in between.

These communities are great for asking questions, swapping tips on feeding, sleep, or schedules, and even just sharing the little wins (and the tough moments!) that come with raising two babies at once.

Having that support and knowing you’re not alone can make the early days, and beyond, feel so much easier and a lot less lonely.

Know It’s Hard but Worth It

Raising multiples is tough. But we promise, every little moment with these babies is worth it.

The way they bond, the little milestones you get to watch, the way your heart just melts when they interact…it makes all the chaos feel small. It’s hard work, but the joy and love you get in return are unmatched.

Some days you’re in the thick of double (or triple!) feedings, and other days you get a rare quiet moment to just breathe. Either way, this journey is wild, messy, and amazing.

You’ve got this, mama!
